Scott Trial 2013 – Rider Final Instructions and Updated Rider List

With under 3 weeks to go to this years Scott Trial (Saturday October 19th 2013) we hope that training is going well!

We have had one or two changes to the rider list.  Please find the most up to date version here:  Rider List 2013

Rider Final Instructions are being emailed to all riders today and are also available to download here:  Complete rider final instructions 2013

Please would all riders, followers, spectators and friends take special notice of the following paragraph which has again been included to this year’s final instructions due to vehicles being seen on parts of the course which are not open to the General Public in previous years.  Everyone’s cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated as it is putting the future of the Scott Trial in jeopardy

OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE

This is not in the spirit of the event & is also jeopardising the future of land access. Any rider’s assistant that is caught with a vehicle in a place other than on or adjacent to the public highway risks the exclusion of their rider. Please note that the majority of tracks on the moors are private roads & Trial followers are not permitted to use them. We will be actively monitoring this situation & the Observer teams have been specifically instructed to makes notes of offenders.

Scott Trial Charity Presentation Evening 2013

The Scott Charity Presentation Evening was held on Friday 1st March at the Buck Hotel Reeth. This year a total of £12,600 was being given out to local charities, making a total of over £127,600 donated in the time that Richmond Motor Club have run the trial. £10,000 was given out on the night which included the proceeds from the Grand Bike Raffle at the Reeth Three Day Trial.  The additional £2600 on the cheque was raised by Tom and Robert Lowes for Brain Tumor UK  in memory of their father Colin Lowes, a previous Scott rider and Richmond Motor Club stalwart.  John Fraser, the Scott Chairman said a few words about how the money is raised with programme sales, entry fees, an auction on the night and very generous sponsorship of the event and awards. He then introduced Mr Stuart Lowther, who is currently the President of the Yorkshire Centre of the ACU and a member of the  Richmond Motor Club Committee.  Stuart commented on the amount of people involved in running the Scott Trial (approx. 200 plus on the day!) and thanked the committee on behalf of the charities.  A list of recipients are as follows (in no particular order)

Swaledale Scouts, Swaledale Mountain Rescue, Reeth Primary School, Gunnerside Primary School, Ravensworth Primary School, Arkengarthdale Primary School, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Great North Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Leyburn Primary School, Reeth Young Farmers, Swaledale Seedlings, St John’s Centre Wednesday Club, RABI, Friends of the 2 Dales Nursery, Hambleton & Richmond Multiple Sclerosis Society, Swaledale & Arkengarthdale Luncheon Clubs Association, Richmond Cricket Club – Youth & General, Moorland Association, St Teresa’s Hospice, DELTA, Holmedale Pre-School, Hipswell Primary School, Wensleydale Rugby Club Development Fund, Gamekeepers Welfare Trust, ACU Benevolent Fund, The Mowbray Suite at the Friarage Hospital and the Alistair Bullen Aromatherapy Fund.
