COVID-19 – Latest Announcement from the RMC Chairman

Statement from the Chairman Covid -19

Dear Members,

In light of the ongoing pandemic, Richmond Motor Club committee deem it necessary to postpone our 2020 trials calendar. Whilst we appreciate that many riders will be disappointed with our decision, the safety of our members, land owners, observers, helpers and families is paramount. This situation is unprecedented and far worse than any of us have seen in the past.

We will continue to closely monitor Government and ACU guidelines and whilst the ACU have, in the last few days, stated that “trials may take place from 4th July” we still feel it necessary to take this step to respect our landowners concerns and wishes. We will review this decision on the 1st September. IF the situation improves, then it MAY be possible to consider running events later in the year. Any changes to this position will be posted on our website.

Please note that the club will carry forward 2020 membership fees into the 2021 season.

Many thanks for your support during this difficult time,

Simon

ACU statement re Covid-19 and all Trials Cancelled

Richmond Motor Club have sadly taken the decision to cancel all forthcoming trials and committee meetings until at least the end of April following on from the ACU issuing up to date information yesterday.  This is of course a very sad day for the sport, but as with everyone else we feel that it is more important for you to stay safe and well and for us all to help in any way we can to stop the spread of this virus.  We will of course update the website and social media pages with any updates as and when we get them.

ACU Statement on Covid-19
On behalf of ACU

In light of recent developments in the COVID-19 crisis, and following the address to the nation by the Prime Minister on the evening of 23rd March, the Auto-Cycle Union has today extended its suspension of all organising permits for motorcycle events until at least 31st May but will be constantly reviewed.

This move provides clear guidance to event organisers, clubs, venues, competitors, officials of the role that the Auto-Cycle Union must play in supporting the broader UK public health agenda.

Auto-Cycle Union Chairman, Roy Humphrey explained, “The government have required that we effectively lock-down for a period of three weeks, however given that the most vulnerable in our society are required to isolate for three months, we feel it only sensible to propose a longer suspension for all motorcycle sport.  This is a time of national unity and we need to come together with the broader public community to do all we can to support this battle and ultimately save lives.

This evening, Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said the Government is launching a new scheme to recruit 250,000 volunteers to support the NHS through the coronavirus pandemic.  A quarter of a million volunteers, people in good health to help the NHS, for shopping, for the delivery of medicines and to support those who are shielding to protect their own health. We may not be involved in any sporting activities, but, we could help support the NHS through this pandemic!” More information can be found here – https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS

Auto-Cycle Union will continue to monitor the prevailing advice from the UK Government in respect of the COVID-19 international pandemic and will update the motorcycle community accordingly.

Updates and dates for the diary

After a horrendously wet start to the year, and no trials being run as yet by RMC we have some updates and information.

Friday 13th March – Scott Trial Charity Presentation Evening – Buck Hotel Reeth.  All welcome to support a fabulous evening where the Scott Trial and Richmond Motor Club give away a substantial amount of money to local charities.  We will also be presenting flood relief cheques to the local Parish Councils as part of our ongoing support to the area.  7.30 pm start with supper after the presentation.

Saturday March 14thFlood Relief Works Party at Cogden Hall, Grinton to help us move some of the stone that has been washed down by the floods last year and at the beginning of this year.  This is a venue where we hold a number of our trials and training school throughout the year and we would love to see as many people there as possible to help one of our landowners try to get some fields back to normal.  We are going to hold our Good Friday Trial here this year, so a push to get the land up and running would be a great help.  All meet at 10am – Gloves and boots recommended.

Albert Shaw 2019 – Provisional Results

Happy Christmas to everyone!  Sorry for the delay but the results secretary had a day off!  Here are the provisional results for yesterdays Boxing Day Trial:  Albert Shaw Provisional Results 2019

Thank You’s

Richmond Motor Club would like to thank the Landowner, Observers, Clerk of the Course and helpers, Secretaries and anyone else involved in the running of today’s trial. Also thank you to all the riders for entering and taking part and hopefully  you have all managed to work off some Christmas Dinner!

On a more serious note, Taped off areas of the trial are there for a reason and MUST NOT be disregarded.  The future of our trials relies on this.  Riders at the Boxing Day trial yesterday rode over the tape and onto a boggy area, putting the future use of this land in jeopardy.  Please let any RMC official know if you see this sort of behaviour happening.

Future Events:

Eric Ridley Trophy Trial – (Re-run of Cancelled 2019 Trial) – PROVISIONAL DATE – Sunday 12th January 2020 (10.30 start) – Adult/Green/CM/A & Competent B Classes

Harold Graham Trophy Trial – (Cogden-Grinton) – Sunday 16th February 2020 (10.30 start) – All Classes

Dick Horner Memorial Trial (Wensley) – Sunday 23rd February 2020 (10.30 start) – Green/CM/Youth/Small Course.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year, we look forward to seeing you all in 2020!
